Welcome to the Three Gorges Fall Gathering!
Come join us for a weekend of fun, food, and community at The Three Gorges (www.3gorges.com), located at 11024 Worley Rd (follow event signage). Gates will open at 9 AM on Saturday, November 1st and close at 5PM November 2nd. EVENT LOCATION (Take a right hand turn onto new gravel road and follow signage to Event Center)
Saturday
9AM-10AM : Event registration
Everyone must first stop by registration table and sign waiver and pickup information.
Parking: Please follow signage to park along side of gravel roadway near event center.
10AM – 3PM : Bouldering: come wander a field of new boulders or join in a competition too see who can accumulate as many V grades and problems as possible. Cash and prizes will be awarded to top youth, male, and female finishers.
10AM – 3PM : Family Scavenger Hunt: Family teams will use a combination of geo-cache style pins on a google map and hints to locate ten vintage 90s action figures hidden on a 2 mile loop trail. Prizes for all finishers !!
Property Tours: Three Gorges reps will be standing by to provide off road adventure tours of the 330 acre property.
Lunch , Dinner: www.Archiesrigbarbecue.com will be serving up delicious smoked meats and sides all weekend!
3:30/4 – Awards
3:30PM-6:30PM: St. Owsley (A Local Grateful Dead Cover Band) https://www.stowsley.com
6:30PM-9PM: Campfire Smores, Stargazing, and Camping. You are invited to camp on the property Saturday night. If camping, bring enough potable water and winter camping gear.
Sunday
8AM-10AM: Breakfast & Lunch www.Archiesrigbarbecue.com will be serving up breakfast (brisket and eggs!!)
10AM- 3PM: Fall Color Hike, Climb, and Explore: Fall colors will be peak in the Tennessee Valley. Go for a hike on our trail system, explore our 330 acres on a side by side property tour, or revisit your boulder project.
3PM-5PM: Pack up and hit the road. Gates close at 5PM. See you down the road!
Rules and Regulations
You are entering PRVIATE PROPERTY. Do NOT enter the property if you are unwilling to comply with the following rules:
Everyone entering the property must first sign a waiver of liability before engaging in any outdoor activity (including minors via guardian). You will do this at the registration table at the event center.
NO DOGS ALLOWED.
Guests are permitted on the property during EVENT HOURS ONLY. DO NOT enter the property outside of event hours. The property is gated and monitored by video surveillance and construction staff. If you enter the property outside of event hours, you will be trespassing ; you will be caught; you will be asked to leave, and this won’t be any fun for anyone. We would like to have more events like this in the future, but this will be dependent on climbers being respectful of these rules. Please don’t ruin it for everyone else.
NO COMPLAINING. If a hold is dirty, brush it up. This is a family friendly community – be mindful of that. Don’t scream and use rude or fowl language.
Be mindful of your surroundings. This is a ‘newer’ boulderfield. Be mindful of loose or dirty holds. Use common sense when topping out and descending boulders.
Quiet time starts at 9PM.
Camping is permitted in designated areas only.
Fires are to be permitted only in designated fire ring next to event lot.
Be cool; have fun. Be respectful, and maybe we can do this again!
Competition Format
The comp format will be a endurance style competition with the goal of accumulating as many V-points as possible. Each problem will be worth the associated V grade as follows:
- V0: .5 points
- V1: 1 points
- V2: 2 points
- V3: 3 points
- etc…..
- Project: automatic 15 points regardless of actual grade.
- Sport Climb; Ex.) 5.9 = 9 points. 5.12c = 12 points + 3 points for letter grade = 15 points.
There is no cap to the number of problems you can accumulate on your score card.
There will be four competitor categories:
- Adult Men (18yrs+)
- Adult Women (18yrs +)
- Youth Men (18 yrs and under)
- Youth Women (18 yrs and under)
There will also be a prize for the climber who accumulates the most ‘dead head’ sends from the guidebook below.
